Hardware Industry Highlights: 2026 Exhibitions Open New Growth Opportunities for Global Hardware Sector

The global hardware industry is entering a period of dynamic transformation and robust growth this year, driven by rising demand for smart, green, and high-performance products across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Multiple major industry exhibitions scheduled across China in the coming weeks are set to showcase the latest technological innovations and facilitate global trade connections, opening up new opportunities for hardware manufacturers and suppliers worldwide.

One of the most anticipated upcoming events is the 2026 China (Wenzhou) Hardware & Intelligent Lock Exhibition, which will kick off on May 28 at Wenzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. With over 40 years of industrial development, Wenzhou has established itself as a global manufacturing hub for hardware and lock products, home to more than 2,600 related enterprises with a total annual output exceeding 35 billion RMB. Boasting national titles including “China Lock Capital” and “China Intelligent Lock Production Base”, the region contributes over 40% of China’s total mechanical lock output, 25% of its intelligent lock production capacity, and 70% of domestic hardware handles. This year’s exhibition covers an area of 52,000 square meters and attracts more than 800 enterprises along the industrial chain, marking its transition from a regional professional exhibition to a leading national event for home hardware and intelligent locks.

A highlight of this year’s Wenzhou exhibition is the newly created “Cross-Border E-Commerce Ecosystem for Hardware and Locks” sector, located in Hall 3 with over 120 participating enterprises. Supported by cross-border e-commerce associations in Shenzhen and Wenzhou, the sector has partnered with major global e-commerce platforms including Amazon and TikTok to build a full-cycle integrated foreign trade service system covering product development, overseas brand building, and logistics distribution. So far, business associations and major purchasers from more than 15 countries and regions have confirmed their attendance, with effective pre-registration of foreign buyers increasing by 120% year-on-year. A series of professional supporting activities will also be held during the exhibition, including the 5th Whole Industry Chain Forum for Intelligent Locks and the first International Locksmith Competition, bringing together industry experts and practitioners to explore future development trends.

For the international market, overseas DIY retail sectors have maintained steady growth in recent quarters, creating strong demand for high-quality Chinese hardware products. Data from industry associations shows that the Dutch DIY market grew by 2.6% last year, exceeding 4 billion euros, while leading South African building materials retailer Cashbuild reported a 5% revenue increase in the first half of its 2025 financial year, reaching 6.093 billion South African rand. Austria’s DIY retail sector also achieved a 0.9% sales growth year-on-year, with multiple regional discount chains accelerating their store expansion plans. This sustained growth in overseas retail markets has created ample opportunities for Chinese hardware enterprises to expand global market share.

Looking ahead, the 23rd China International Hardware Show will open in Shanghai this September, organized by the China Hardware Products Association and Koelnmesse. Covering approximately 120,000 square meters, the exhibition is expected to attract nearly 3,000 participating enterprises and more than 80,000 professional visitors, showcasing a full range of products including hand tools, power tools, construction hardware, locks and accessories, and smart hardware equipment. As one of the most influential professional exhibitions in the Asian hardware industry, it has long been praised as a “barometer of the hardware market and a weathervane of industry development”, providing an efficient trading platform for global buyers and Chinese suppliers to connect and cooperate.

As the “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” promotes the transformation of the manufacturing industry towards high-end, intelligent, and green development, the hardware industry is embracing new structural opportunities. From aging-adapted accessibility hardware to smart connected products and eco-friendly manufacturing solutions, Chinese hardware enterprises are continuously innovating to meet changing market demand, and are well-positioned to serve global customers with high-quality, cost-competitive products. We welcome industry partners from around the world to attend these upcoming exhibitions, discuss cooperation, and jointly create a better future for the global hardware industry.
